The RoadHawk HD represents a breakthrough in vehicle camera black box video technology.
We listened to feedback from our customers and created an in car camera system capable recording extremely high quality 1080p video using the latest A5s Processor. We added a faster 5Hz GPS receiver with ultra-fast lock on time.
RoadHawk HD is the first in car camera on the market fitted with full EIS (electronic image stabilisation) to give you the smoothest video even on the roughest of road surfaces.
The HD sensor used in the RoadHawk HD not only gives amazingly sharp and colourful daytime images but also outperforms any other in car camera currently available in low light conditions.
Video files are stored on a normal SD card but this time we have used SDXC technology so you can use larger capacity SD cards (currently up to 64gb). The videos are stored as standard .MP4 files which can be played back on just about any modern PC or MAC computer.
GPS and G-Force data is stored within the video file and can be viewed using the provided viewing software. You will see the vehicle’s speed, G-Force and position overlaid on to Google maps updating 5 times every second.
Want to see this data on OSX? – No problem. We have written the app to support both windows and OSX!
For vehicles that struggled with GPS reception – we added an external GPS antenna in to the box. You can use it for even faster lock-on times (usually less than 30 seconds from cold start) and for greater GPS accuracy.
Just like the original DC-1 camera, the RoadHawk HD can lock files when it detects an impact and a normal SD card can hold many locked files before they are overwritten.
We know many of our customers will want to use this camera for track/racing purposes and so we have built-in a mode which allows the camera to make larger files up to 30 minutes long and not overwrite them. This makes the RoadHawk HD a powerful track analysis driving aid. We even included an external microphone input for connecting higher quality recording equipment or for connecting to a radio communications device or intercom.
We understand that suction mounts are not always permitted on track and so the RoadHawk HD camera is supplied with an adhesive windscreen mount as well as a ¼” camera mount for use with roll bar clamps.
